February 2020 Fishing Report

“Shallow”
There’s nothing “far from the shallow now” when fishing the flats. These waters offer plenty of opportunities if you’re looking to keep your day of fishing fun and exciting. And with weather being less than cooperative the past few weeks, the flats still offer some of the best fishing of the season. You can find more than your fill of Barracuda and Cobia in these waters. Additionally, there will be chances to hunt Permit and Bonefish, as these fish become more active.
“How Deep Is Your Love?”
Escape that “world of fools” by taking one of our fishing charters out for some deep-sea fishing action! Sailfish are coming in hot and clocking in at around 50 pounds, giving sport fishers plenty to do. And while you’re out deep, keep an eye out for King Mackerel, Mahi Mahi and Black Fin Tuna (sometimes pushing 30 pounds). With the sheer size of some of the fish we’re pulling in, it truly becomes a “go big or go home” situation!
“You Wreck Me”
Whether you’re the “boy in the corduroy pants” or the “girl at the high school dance,” you’re going to get a kick from the wreck and reef fishing this February. And although Grouper season is closed, there’s still plenty available to catch and bring home. For example, Yellow Tail Snapper and Mutton Snapper are plenty abundant in these areas. Also, be on the lookout for Cobia.
“I Want You Back”
If some of the best fishing is “all you ever wanted,” be sure to request backcountry fishing for the time of your life. Especially when fishing can slow down in the colder months of the year, backcountry fishing around Key West keeps the excitement alive. Moreover, the backcountry offers calmer water, less wind, and a wide assortment of fish. A portion of the fish you can catch include Sea Trout, Snapper, Jacks, Mackerel, and even some sharks.
